Comic-Con Buzz

The Con is coming, have you chosen your costumed identity yet?

My "boss" went as Wonder Woman last year and was quite the hit. We could hardly take two steps without a veritable red carpet papparazzi photo shoot taking place. If you plan to go in character (and you are believable), you will find it difficult to tour the con without a secret identity.

You will also have to contend with the "who wore it best?" phenomenon and you certainly don't want to be the loser in that one. There are also some "shady" photog types that may follow the young ladies and you may find photos of yourself in some unexpected places. However, most people are very polite and ask nicely and not take too much of your time but with record attendance that could mean valuable minutes taken from you chance to tour the Con. See you there....

MORAV

Story by: M. Zachary Sherman | Art by: Budi Setiawan | Not for resale | morav.net

"The Future of Robotic Warfare Begins Now" is the subtitle. A subtitle that I can get behind. Robots & War? Yes please! heh. Too bad I don't see any robots in this issue! Owell. I guess that's what they call back story. If you go to the website above, there's a cool picture of what this robot domination might look like.

All in all, an alright read for being free. =D Thanks again Comic-Con!

Heroes - Issue #2

Story by: Aron Eli Coleite | Art by: Micah Gunnell | Not for resale | Helix Comics Group (if you're a Heroes nerd you'll get that reference)

Now that I have officially mourned the passing of Comic-Con 2007, let us get back to the books. =) Because of my addictive personality however, I do have to touch on Comic-Con a little.

Heroes, the comic book! If you haven't already, check out the cool comics online. The one that I have is Chapter 5, I think they're up to Chapter 49 now. Here's the online novel library.

Chapter 5 gives us nice little insights into the back stories of these "heroes." Want a copy? Too bad it was a Comic-Con exclusive. hehe. But you can print it online.

Comic-Con, Sunday

Sunday was a short day too, but it wasn't my fault! The hall closed at 5pm rather than 7pm. Sad.

Comic-Con, Saturday

I had been taking the trolley to the Con. Today I was taxied via a boat. Sweet! heh. I did a short day on Saturday. It turned out to not be as crowded as I was expecting, which turned out to hurt the retailers at the Con. Without the sales of one-day passes, there was no new blood. On to more pictures...

Comic-Con, Friday

Friday was Star Wars Day & despite having 5 panels marked to go to...I only made it to one. Yes, one. The lines were so long I wasn't able to hop from panel to panel like I had planned. O'well. Enjoy the pictures!

The Dark Side wants you!

Comic-Con, Thursday

First off, the line for Pre-Reg badge pickup was about 3 hours. Yes, three hours. Madness. It gives you an insight to the number of people attending Comic-Con this year. Thankfully, picking up my press pass was a breeze.

At the Occult Crimes Taskforce panel:
The main attraction for me on Thursday was the Rosario Dawson: O.C.T .Panel. Mostly because I'm a big RENT fan. heh. She was very entertaining and I might just have to pick up a copy of OCT's first (and only) trade paperback. The panel included Tony Shasteen's artist strategy. Shasteen does the penciling, inking & coloring all himself. Whew!

I love these guys!

At the Lionsgate panel:
Good Luck Chuck isn't exactly Con material but I guess you can't go wrong with Jessica Alba right? I only stayed for the first part of the panel. The Fox moderator needed to work on his material.

The Fire Marshal closed down access into Hall H for the Lionsgate panel.

Storm's Homegirl was able to get in. =D

Hi Dane Cook

Jessica Alba was there too. Needless to say, the crowd went nuts.

Alba & Cook with director, Mark Helfrich

They showed a phone sex clip from the movie. Alba said that she was able to do alot of physical comedy (which she enjoyed). After discussion & clips of the movie, there was a Q&A session. The movie comes out September 21.

At the Lost Season 4 panel:

The funny producers gave away some nice insider tidbits for Season 4. They were happy that they finally have an end date for the show and now they can get on with the story line without having to add "filler." They announced that "Michael" is coming back as a regular cast member! During the Q&A session, someone asked, "Who's in the coffin?" Cuse & Lindelof refused to answer, but Harold Perrineau ("Michael") guessed it was "Locke." The producers also said that they will be going into "Libby's" story this year. They played a clip for the new Lost video game & a little clip for us from the Dharma Initiative. This next season should be a good one! Shooting starts in four weeks.

Executive producers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof

At the Fanboys panel:
Man, this movie looks funny. The movie's set back when Star Wars: Episode 1 was about to come out. There's a group of friends (all in LOVE with Star Wars) but one of the group members has a terminal illness and won't make it to see the movie when it comes out. The solution? Break into Skywalker Ranch and steal the film before it comes out of course! View the trailer here.

It was a long but fun day. I'm looking forward to the rest of the weekend.

Comic-Con, Preview Night

Here are some pictures from Comic-Con Preview Night. It was pretty crowded. I'm a little scared to see what it'll be like this weekend. Also, I am now totally comfortable negotiating my way through the SD trolley system. Sweet.

I found a former co-worker!
Ken was a camera operator on the shows that I worked on. He's good people.

Indiana Jones teaser

The storm troopers were out. I also saw Darth Vader wandering the halls before the doors opened, but I didn't see him in the hall. Maybe he was destroying a planet?

Jaba was there too. Heh. You can sit on him if you want.

A beautiful Marvel wall

Who you gonna call?!

At first I thought this was just a cute girl posing for fanboys...but it turns out she was playing the role of the chick in Grindhouse. Check out her gun leg! She's a real amputee.

Tomorrow I'll be heading there so again expect more photos...whether you like it or not. =P
